What is Hernia?

A hernia occurs when an internal organ or tissue pushes through a weak spot in the surrounding muscle or tissue wall. It commonly appears as a bulge or swelling in the abdomen or groin, which may become more noticeable when coughing, lifting, or straining.
Common types include inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, femoral hernia, and incisional hernia.
Do not ignore a painful or growing hernia. Proper evaluation by a surgeon can help determine the right treatment.
