Dental implants in Delhi for NRIs from the UK, Australia and UAE

Dental implants at THE CLINICS Green Park are planned and placed by a prosthodontist, Dr Neha Garg (Delhi Dental Council reg. 20981-A), and a periodontist, Dr Amit Garg (reg. A-4919). Most cases take about 3 to 6 months from placement to the final teeth, because the bone needs time to bond with the implant. For patients who live abroad, that usually means two visits to Delhi: one for the scan and implant placement, and one for the final teeth.

Treatment is done at THE CLINICS Green Park, G-32, Green Park Main Market Road, close to Green Park metro station (Yellow Line).

A two-visit plan for patients who live abroad

Before you fly: send photos of your teeth, any recent dental X-rays (OPG) or 3D (CBCT) scan, and a list of medicines and health conditions. A video consultation (chargeable) helps you understand the likely plan and what may change after examination.

Visit 1: examination, 3D scan and implant placement.

  • Examination, X-rays and a 3D (CBCT) scan. The scan is generally done at an outside imaging centre; we arrange the referral.

  • A written treatment plan with an estimate.

  • Any preparatory treatment: gum treatment, extractions, or bone grafting or a sinus lift where the bone is too thin.

  • Implant placement under local anaesthesia, by Dr Neha Garg or Dr Amit Garg. A single implant usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.

  • Plan about 5 to 7 days in Delhi, or up to 1 to 2 weeks in complex cases, so the dentist can check healing before you fly.

Healing at home. Usually about 2 to 4 months in the lower jaw and 3 to 6 months in the upper jaw. Bone grafting or a sinus lift can add a few months.

Visit 2: abutment and final teeth. Impressions or scans are taken and the final crown, bridge, full-arch teeth or implant-retained denture is fitted. Plan about 5 to 7 days, or up to 1 to 2 weeks in complex cases.

Same-day temporary teeth: in selected cases, a temporary tooth or set of teeth can be fitted on the day the implant is placed. This depends on bone quality and implant stability and is decided during surgery, so do not plan travel around it.

Which implant treatment may suit you

The option is chosen after examination and the 3D scan.

  • Single-tooth implant: one implant and one crown.

  • Implant-supported bridge: two or more implants carry a bridge replacing three or more teeth in a row.

  • Full-arch implant teeth (All-on-4 / All-on-6 style): a fixed set of teeth for a whole jaw, on four to six implants.

  • Implant-retained denture (overdenture): a removable denture that clips onto two or more implants.

  • Bone grafting and sinus lift: both are done at THE CLINICS Green Park when needed.

For patients in the UK

  • Getting here: non-stop London–Delhi flights take about 9 to 11 hours, so most patients keep to the two-visit plan.

  • Time zone: India is 5 h 30 min ahead in winter (GMT) and 4 h 30 min ahead in British Summer Time. An afternoon slot in Delhi (2 pm–9 pm IST) is a UK morning or early afternoon.

  • Before you travel: ask your UK dentist for copies of recent X-rays and notes about the missing teeth or failed teeth.

  • Timing the trips: many patients combine visit 1 with a family trip and return 3 to 6 months later for the final teeth.

  • Back home: your UK dentist can do routine cleaning and check-ups. Ask us for a written record of the implant system and sizes used, so any dentist can look after them.

  • Flying: you fly home once your dentist has checked healing. After a sinus lift, your dentist tells you when it is safe to fly.

For patients in Australia

  • Getting here: non-stop flights from Sydney and Melbourne take about 13 hours; from other cities, plan for a connection.

  • Time zone: India is 4 h 30 min behind Sydney and Melbourne (5 h 30 min in daylight saving) and 2 h 30 min behind Perth. A 9 am–1 pm IST slot is mid-afternoon in Sydney and late morning to mid-afternoon in Perth.

  • Before you travel: send your OPG or CBCT if you have one; a recent scan may help the first plan, although a new 3D scan is usually taken for implant placement.

  • Timing the trips: with two long-haul trips, plan your dates around the healing time your dentist gives you after the scan.

  • Back home: your local dentist can do 6-monthly check-ups and cleaning; video follow-up with your Delhi dentist is available.

For patients in the UAE

  • Getting here: Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Delhi takes about 3.5 hours, which makes shorter, extra visits practical, for example a separate trip for extractions or bone grafting before the implants.

  • Time zone: India is 1 h 30 min ahead of the UAE. OPD hours (9 am–9 pm IST) are 7:30 am–7:30 pm UAE time, and Saturday clinics fall on the UAE weekend.

  • Before you travel: bring X-rays and notes from your UAE dentist.

  • Back home: review visits can be done in Delhi on a later trip or with your dentist in the UAE.

Visa and entry

Visa and entry rules are set by the Government of India and can change, so check the official portals before you book flights.

  • Indian passport holders (most NRIs) do not need a visa.

  • OCI cardholders hold a multiple-entry lifelong visa for visiting India, so no separate medical visa is needed.

  • British, Australian and UAE passport holders can apply for an e-Medical visa online, only at indianvisaonline.gov.in. Apply at least 4 days before arrival; applications open up to 120 days ahead. You upload your passport bio page and a letter from the treating hospital in India, on its letterhead, giving your name, nationality, passport number and tentative admission date. Up to two e-Medical Attendant visas can be granted against one e-Medical visa.

  • UAE nationals who have held an Indian e-Visa or regular visa before may be eligible for visa on arrival; check the official portal first.

  • Foreign nationals and OCI cardholders complete the online e-Arrival card within 72 hours before arrival (boi.gov.in, indianvisaonline.gov.in or the Indian Visa Su-Swagatam app).

THE CLINICS can issue a medical visa letter for dental treatment at THE CLINICS Green Park once your plan is made. Visa decisions are made by the Government of India; we cannot promise approval. More detail: International patients.

Recovery and risks to know before you fly

  • Mild swelling, soreness and minor bleeding are common for 2 to 3 days; medicines are prescribed as needed.

  • Use a cold pack on the cheek on the first day, eat soft food, and avoid smoking, alcohol and very hot drinks while the area heals.

  • Implant treatment is a surgical procedure. Risks include infection, injury to nearby teeth, nerves or the sinus, the implant not bonding with the bone, peri-implantitis, and loosening or chipping of the crown over time. Your dentist discusses these before treatment.

  • Tell us early, by WhatsApp, if the gum around an implant bleeds or swells after you return home.

Cost of dental implants

A dental implant costs about ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 per implant, depending on the implant system. The final cost is confirmed after consultation and scans, in a written estimate. It also depends on the number of implants and teeth replaced, the type of restoration and crown material, any bone grafting, sinus lift or extractions, and the 3D scan, which is billed by the imaging centre. Dental implants are usually not covered by health insurance in India; check your own policy. All major credit cards are accepted.

Frequently asked questions

How many trips to Delhi do dental implants need?

Usually two: one for the 3D scan and implant placement, and one 3 to 6 months later for the final teeth, once the bone has bonded with the implant. Bone grafting or a sinus lift can add time. Your dentist confirms the plan after examination.

How long should I stay in Delhi for implant placement?

Plan about 5 to 7 days for each trip, or up to 1 to 2 weeks in complex cases: the first trip for the scan, placement and a healing check before you fly, and the second for the final teeth.

Can I get temporary teeth before I fly home?

In selected cases a temporary tooth or set of teeth can be fitted on the day of placement. It depends on bone quality and implant stability and is decided during surgery; otherwise temporary teeth are provided after healing.

Which records should I send before travelling?

Photos of your teeth, recent dental X-rays (OPG) or a 3D (CBCT) scan if you have one, and a list of your medicines and health conditions, such as diabetes or bone-strengthening medicines.

Can my dentist in the UK, Australia or the UAE look after the implants?

Yes, for routine cleaning and check-ups. Keep a record of the implant system and sizes used, and contact us by WhatsApp if the gum around an implant bleeds or swells.

Who places the implants?

Dr Neha Garg, prosthodontist (Delhi Dental Council reg. 20981-A), and Dr Amit Garg, periodontist (reg. A-4919), at THE CLINICS Green Park.

How much do dental implants cost for NRI patients?

About ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 per implant, depending on the implant system. The final cost is confirmed after consultation and scans, and also depends on the number of implants, the type of teeth and whether grafting is needed. Dental implants are usually not covered by health insurance in India.
