Laser Surgery for Piles, Fissure, Fistula and Pilonidal Sinus in South Delhi

THE CLINICS MISC in Hauz Khas, South Delhi, treats piles (haemorrhoids), anal fissure, anal fistula and pilonidal sinus with laser and other minimally invasive methods. A laser fibre delivers controlled energy to shrink piles, help a chronic fissure heal or close a fistula tract, usually through no cut or a very small one. Many patients go home the same or the next day. Dr Aayush Nagpal, coloproctologist (DMC Reg. No. 103369), and Dr Saurabh Bansal, GI and laparoscopic surgeon (DMC Reg. No. 37887), examine you first and choose the method that suits your condition, which is not always laser.

What is laser proctology?

Laser proctology means treating conditions of the anus and lower rectum with a thin laser fibre instead of, or alongside, conventional cutting and stitching. The laser is used under anaesthesia in the operation theatre. Compared with open surgery it usually means smaller or no wounds and a quicker return to normal activity, but recovery still takes some days, and laser is not suitable for every patient. Some conditions are better treated with medicines, a different procedure or a combination.

Conditions we treat with laser and minimally invasive methods

Piles (haemorrhoids): laser haemorrhoidoplasty

Piles are swollen blood vessels in the anal canal that can bleed, itch or come out (prolapse). Early piles often settle with diet, fibre and medicines. For piles that keep bleeding or prolapsing, laser haemorrhoidoplasty (LHP) shrinks the piles from inside without cutting the skin.

Anal fissure: laser treatment

An anal fissure is a small tear in the lining of the anus that causes sharp pain and sometimes bleeding with stools. Most new fissures heal with stool softeners, sitz baths and prescribed ointments. A fissure that has not healed after 6–8 weeks of treatment (chronic fissure) may need a procedure: we offer laser treatment and lateral internal sphincterotomy (LIS).

Anal fistula: fistulotomy, fistulectomy, laser, LIFT and seton

An anal fistula is a small tunnel between the inside of the anal canal and the skin near the anus, usually after an abscess. It does not heal with medicines. We offer fistulotomy, fistulectomy, laser closure of the tract, LIFT (ligation of the intersphincteric fistula tract) and seton placement (a thin thread that drains the tract, often as a first stage for complex fistulas). The choice depends on how the tract runs in relation to the sphincter muscles, which is often checked with an MRI.

Pilonidal sinus: excision or laser

A pilonidal sinus is a small infected tract in the skin at the upper end of the buttock crease, often containing hair. Depending on its size and how often it has been infected, we offer surgical excision or laser treatment of the tract.

Who is suitable for laser treatment?

Your doctor decides after examining you. Laser is commonly considered for:

  • piles that keep bleeding or prolapsing despite medicines

  • a chronic anal fissure that has not healed with 6–8 weeks of treatment

  • many anal fistulas, depending on the tract seen on examination or MRI

  • a pilonidal sinus with a limited tract

It may not suit very large piles, some complex fistulas, or patients whose symptoms come from another cause. Bleeding from the back passage can also come from other conditions, so we may advise a colonoscopy first, especially after age 45 or if there is a change in bowel habit, weight loss or anaemia.

What to expect on the day

  1. Before: blood tests and a check by the anaesthetist; you are told when to stop eating.

  2. Procedure: done in the operation theatre under spinal or general anaesthesia; it often takes under an hour.

  3. After: most patients go home the same day or the next morning with medicines, stool softeners and sitz-bath instructions.

  4. Follow-up: a review visit, usually within one to two weeks.

Recovery after laser treatment

  • Most people return to desk work within a few days; heavier work may need longer.

  • Some discomfort, swelling and spotting of blood are common for a few days.

  • Fibre, plenty of water and stool softeners help avoid straining.

  • Call or WhatsApp +91 9217381353 if you have heavy bleeding, fever, inability to pass urine or pain that is getting worse.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get laser treatment for piles, fissure or fistula near me in South Delhi?

At THE CLINICS MISC, H2, Hauz Khas, opposite Neeli Masjid, New Delhi. Dr Aayush Nagpal (Mon–Sat 5–7 pm) and Dr Saurabh Bansal see patients with piles, fissure, fistula and pilonidal sinus. WhatsApp +91 9217381353 to book.

Is laser surgery better than open surgery for piles?

For suitable piles, laser usually means no skin cut, less bleeding and a quicker return to work than open haemorrhoidectomy. It is not right for every patient; very large piles may need another method. The doctor advises after examining you.

How many days of rest are needed after laser piles surgery?

Most people return to desk work within a few days and to full activity in about one to two weeks. Some discomfort and spotting can last a few days. Your doctor gives you a plan based on the procedure and your work.

Can a fissure or fistula come back after laser treatment?

Yes, it can. A fissure can recur if constipation continues, and some fistulas, especially complex ones, need more than one procedure. Your doctor explains the chance of recurrence for your case before treatment.

Is laser proctology a day-care procedure?

Often, yes. Many patients go home the same day or the next morning. The stay depends on the procedure, the anaesthesia and your general health.

Does health insurance cover laser treatment for piles, fissure and fistula?

Most Indian health policies cover medically advised day-care procedures, subject to waiting periods. Insurance facilities available. Our team helps with the paperwork; WhatsApp +91 9217381353 to check your policy.
